Report: Smartphone Shipments Overtake PCs in 2011
The era of smartphones has officially arrived. More were shipped globally last year than client PCs for the first time ever, according to Canalys. Facebook Files for $5 Billion IPO
As expected, Facebook on Thursday officially filed an initial public offering (IPO), raising $5 billion, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. That document also revealed that the social network has been profitable for the past three years, bringing in revenue of $777 million in 2009, $1.974 billion in 2010, and $3.711 billion last year. Analyst Predicts Apple TV Set in Late 2012
In a Tuesday note to investors, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said Apple is likely targeting a late 2012 launch for its own TV set. Apple Reports Record Profits, Revenues, as iPhone, iPad Sales Double
Apple doubled its profits from a year ago, reporting a 73 percent jump in revenue as Apple sold more than double the amount of iPads and iPhones from a year ago. Apple reported net income of $13.06 billion on revenue of $46.33 billion, versus profits of $6 billion and revenue of $26.74 billion a year ago.
