- Subwoofer port placement
The Asus ET2700INKS is a massive 27-inch all-in-one desktop PC that has a Blu-ray player, entertainment features and HDMI-in. It delivers excellent performance thanks to a quad-core Intel i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM and hybrid Nvidia graphics. It's an excellent PC for home entertainment purposes in addition to everyday computing tasks.
A lot of all-in-one desktops are coming to the market recently and we've reviewed many of them right here at TechReviewSource. While some of them feature touchscreens, like the HP TouchSmart Elite 7320, a lot of them don't, which is just fine as long as the display looks amazing and makes the purchase worth while.
While it likely won't earn any awards for design, it has a basic, yet functional design. The edge-to-edge glass display has a razor-thin piano black bezel and a silver speaker bar across the bottom. The stand supports the PC easily and allows for some adjustment as well. It measures 26.0 x 9.2 x 20.0-inches (wdh) in total.
Asus includes a small bundled sufwoofer for added audio output. It works well and delivers a good amount of bass, but the port it plugs into is located on the side instead of on the back. This means there is always a cord hanging out from the side of your monitor all the time.
The 27-inch display is the Asus ET2700INKS' main selling points, as it should be! It has a 1920 x 1080-pixel full HD resolution and very bright backlighting. While it's not as high-res as the iMac's same size screen, most users will find this display to be beautiful. The display also had vivid colors during our image tests and played video quite well, which is important because of the entertainment focus of this PC.
The included set of mouse and keyboard are both wireless, which is a must for all-in-ones. The set included with this PC feel rather cheap, especially the keyboard where the keys feel mushy and the mouse is much smaller than a typical desktop mouse.
The port selection available on the Asus ET2700INKS includes two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port, VGA-out, HDMI-in, gigabit Ethernet, the usual audio ports and an SD card reader. There is also a Blu-ray & DVD+/-RW combo drive and built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. We appreciate Asus included USB 3.0 on this PC, which is a must in our opinion for all new computers. The HDMI-in port allows you to display content from a cable TV box, video game console or other HD video source right on the PC's monitor. It's a great feature to have if you want to use this PC in an area where having both a computer and an HDTV isn't possible due to room constraints or other reasons.
Internal specifications of the Asus ET2700INKS include an Intel Core i7-2600S quad-core (2.8GHz) CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive and hybrid graphics that include both integrated Intel and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M (1GB of video RAM) graphics.
Thanks to these specifications, performance with this all-in-one PC was amazing and very close, if not at, top-of-category. Multitasking and streaming HD media performance was fantastic as expected, so no issues there. Benchmark tests put the ET2700INKS right at the top. We obtained a PCMark 7 score of 9,844, which is better than any other all-in-one that we've tested.
Gaming performance was also good, but not as blazing as general computing performance. This was due to the mobile graphics system, which delivers less performance than a graphics system designed for desktop PCs. However, the hybrid graphics system allows you to use the heftier Nvidia graphics instead of the paultry integrated Intel graphics when needed. Hardcore 3D gamers will find it necessary to dial back the graphics settings to get a good playable experience.
