An all-in-one computer is becoming a staple in the typical family household it seems and the Gateway ZX6951-53 hopes to attract some attention. It has a 23-inch touchscreen display with a powerful Intel Core i3 CPU and 4GB of RAM complemented by a TV tuner and Blu-ray player to give a nice multimedia experience, but it is lacking a few important ports.

The Gateway ZX6951-53 has a stylish curved design that really makes it stand out among the rest of the typically blase-looking competitors. It measures 6.43 x 21.9 x 17.4-inches (wdh) and weighs a meaty 27-pounds. It should, however, fit in nicely in any family room or kitchen setting and provide a nice experience along with it.

The 23-inch multitouch 1080p HD display is of very high quality. The glossy screen, which does attract a lot of glare, provides a very good picture with excellent colors and vibrant blacks. The responsiveness of the display is very good and it also seemed quite accurate in testing. Gateway includes a rather basic set of wireless keyboard and mouse combo, but they get the job done and they're decently comfortable to use too.

The backside of the Gateway ZX6951-53 has six USB 2.0 ports, VGA out, a TV tuner (with remote control) and a gigabit Ethernet port. The side has a Blu-ray combo drive, two more USB ports and a multiformat memory card reader. We really liked the TV tuner and Blu-ray player because that really makes this unit stand out as a multimedia PC. However, we would've liked the see an HDMI out port for showing content on an HDTV and an eSATA port for additional additional storage, which is something multimedia PCs always need.

Specifications of the Gateway ZX6951-53 include an Intel Core i3-550 CPU (3.2GHz), 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 640GB 7200RPM hard drive, integrated Intel HD graphics, 802.11b/g/n wireless connectivity and built-in high-definition audio with 5.1-channel support. There is also a 2.0-megapixel webcam and microphone built-into the face of the unit. Gateway includes Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) edition.

Performance with this all-in-one PC is excellent, especially with multimedia tasks, like watching a Blu-ray DVD movie or watching HD content from the Internet. However, because of the integrated graphics processor, don't expect to play any of today's 3D games on this PC because it simply can't handle it.
