The Lenovo ThinkPad T410s is one the lightest business-class laptop computers with a 14.1" LCD that we've ever seen. Most other lightweights in this category sacrifice performance and power, but the T410s doesn't in the least bit. You get an Intel Core i5 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a plethora of wireless options.

This ThinkPad follows the same design trend that all other ThinkPads from Lenovo have: the carbon-fiber black body with a rugged chassis. Lenovo says the laptop has an interior skeleton that help protects the computer's sensitive internal components from bumps and drops. This laptop weighs only 3.9-pounds, with is amazingly light and measures exactly 1-inch thick and approximately 13.4 x 9.2-inches (WD).

The keyboard on the T410s is rated as full-size and still has the excellent, tactile feel that ThinkPads have always had. Lenovo also includes their dual mouse controls on this unit: both track pad and pointing stick.

The display on the ThinkPad T410s is a 14.1-inch widescreen with LED backlighting and a resolution of 1440 x 900. There is no touch screen on this unit, but you can customize a T410s to have one for an additional cost if you desire.

In terms of ports, the T410s model has an ExpressCard 34 slot for expansion, eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port, 2 dedicated USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, and a DisplayPort for an external monitor. It does lack a FireWire port, but that's a minor subtraction. If you're interested in a laptop that gives you every wireless connection option on the planet, this is the computer for you. It comes with built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, internal 3G for cellular connectivity, GPS and even WiMax 4G. The GPS and WiMax connectivity do not come standard, but rather as add-ons, but still great to have nonetheless.

Some of internal hardware specifications include an Intel Core i5-520M mobile CPU clocked at 2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM, an Intel GMA HD integrated graphics processor, a dual-layer DVD+/-RW drive, and a 250GB (5400RPM) hard drive. There is a 128GB solid-state drive option available, which gives you faster file transfer speeds and less power requirements, for an extra $100.

Performance with the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s is outstanding for business users, mostly thanks to the higher-end mobile Intel i5-520M CPU and 4GB of RAM. Several benchmark tests for this model came out exceeding expectations in almost all categories, including video encoding and Adobe Photoshop CS5 testing. The integrated Intel graphics processor is definitely well-suited for business use, but won't handle intense 3D gaming by any means. Most business users I don't think will be doing much gaming, so this won't be an issue.

Battery life with the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s is the only downside, as it only provides around 4 hours or less with the included 6-cell battery. There is an optional battery that can be placed inside the DVD optical disc bay to add additional power.
