Nokia Victorious Over Apple in Smartphone Distribution
The Motorola Droid has made quite the splash and is already regarded as the next potential “iPhone killer”. While a plethora of reviewers have tried to measure the factor which makes their products “buyable” between the high profile gadgets from Apple, Motorola and others, Nokia has managed better on its own worldwide continuing the lead in the sector with 37.9 percent of the market share in the third quarter of the year. Close competitors consist of top names including Blackberry and Apple among others. Blackberry had a 19 percent market share and Apple collected 17.1 percent based on shipments worldwide. Smartphones in general improved their shipments by 4.2 compared to the same period last year. Nokia’s big sellers are the E71 and N97 handsets which have found more popularity in Europe in respect to the rest of the world. On the contrary, Apple has found more success in domestic sales rather than in worldwide sales.
