From an inside, unnamed, source from the Microsoft Windows 7 development team, Microsoft's plan for development of Windows 7 is as follows: RC1 (built 7048): April 2009 RC2: shortly thereafter RTM (release to manufacturing): August 2009 My source states that this schedule is mostly tentative, but Microsoft is sticking to it. This potentially means that Microsoft is still aiming for a pre-Holiday 2009 release of Windows 7. I was also told that there will be "a lot of new features" included in the RTM that will not have been included in any current or future RC's. My source gave the example of how the new taskbar was not included until build 7000. |
