The Motorola TN765t puts Motorola in the personal navigation industry with some interesting features, such as Google Local searches and free traffic updates. The MotoNav is a solid starter for Motorola, but it has a few flaws in the end. The TN765t measures 2.8 by 5.1 by 0.4 inches and the 5.1-inch LCD screen has a 358-by-854 pixel resolution. The display is a touch-sensitive display, and the screen does respond quite nicely to inputs. The device also features customizable rear buttons, but their placement is awkwardly placed. There is an included dashboard mount which provides a nice and handy way to mount the device on a car dashboard. Motorola really got the design of the software correct on the TN765t. A handy feature for using the device while "on-the-go" is a word prediction feature which tries to automatically fill in what you're typing to save time. It also includes voice recognition that runs Microsoft Bing software. The built-in POI database contains around 7 million entries and counting. When running a POI or location search, it indicates the distance and direction in which things are located.
Though the TN765t has some similarities with other well-known navigation device competitors, it also has countless features which are much different from others, such as the data-over-voice connection powered by Airbiquity. You get streaming traffic for life without signing up for any data plan thru any cellular network and while very useful, we did find it to be a bit slow on occasion. Motorola themselves only give you three months of includes Google Local Search, weather updates, fuel prices, and a few other Internet-search related features. The mapping software displays maps that look pretty decent and actually quite better than some competitors. One neat features that helps is curved type along sections of road that do not run straight, which makes the map look more natural. There's also lane assist to help you get in the right lane for your travels along any stretch of highway, regardless of whether or not it's navigating a route. Current speed, direction, and elevation also show up during your traveling. 3D landmarks are also shown if any are present at your current location. The TN765t has a hands-free speakerphone that works over Bluetooth. It has 4GB of internal memory, plus a microSD card slot for expansion.
