The all new 15-inch Sony VAIO EB12FX/T is a mid-line priced notebook computer that offers some pretty decent features along with an attractive design and set of features. This $750 notebook comes with an HDMI port, eSATA input, a full numeric keypad, and an Intel Core i3-330M 2.13GHz processor.

The matte brown finish of this model provides an excellent alternative to the traditional glossy black casings of other comparable notebooks. This finish does not show any fingerprints or even many blemishes that may occurring throughout its lifetime of use. The slim design of the computer makes it very portable and easy to carry around with you throughout a long day of work. There's no funky switches or buttons to be accidentally activated or worn out.

Along the left side of the Sony VAIO EB12FX/T notebook are where the bulk of the ports are subtlety placed, including the power port, Ethernet port, VGA output, HDMI output, eSATA/USB combo port, and an ExpressCard slot. On the opposite side are three USB 2.0 ports and the optical drive. On the front edge is the memory card reader and headphone/microphone ports.

The 15.5-inch display has a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and looks very good from all viewing angles and in bright and low-light conditions.

The keyboard on this model is very similar to the Apple MacBook in the way the buttons work, which is more of a flat-style rather than the traditional raised buttons. The letter keys are very easy and comfortable to use, however, the full numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard is small and cramped. The same goes for the navigational arrow keys which are very small and also smashed under the shift and enter keys. The left-side CTRL key is very small and the same size as the neighboring Fn key and is too easily mispressed when the other key is meant to be pressed.

Under the keyboard is the mouse trackpad, which is offset slightly to be located directly under the keyboard spacebar for ease of use, which we like. There we no issues with the placement or use of the trackpad despite the offset location.

In terms of specifications, the Sony VAIO EB12FX/T includes an Intel Core i3 2.13GHz CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, integrated Intel HD graphics, 500GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive, and Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). Due to the integrated graphics processor and mid-line CPU, this is a computer more for everyday productivity tasks, like business production or home/school use. For a college student or business person, this computer is an excellent fit due to the portability (weighs 5.9 pounds). Performance for Web browsing, e-mail, productivity tasks, video watching, 2D gaming, and other similar tasks is excellent and works without a hitch. One negative about this model is the somewhat poor battery life of between 3-4 hours depending on usage.
