The Google Toolbar has become quite the popular thing for Microsoft's Internet Explorer. It seems like almost everyone is using it. Let's take a look at why it's such a popular tool. First of all, it's a toolbar in your browser window, so it's always accessible. Now if you have too many toolbars in your browser and many of them are probably spyware, you might want to remove some of the existing toolbars first because your Web page viewing area might get too small. Once you load the toolbar, the first thing that you will see is the search field, from here you have one-click access to Google's Web search, image search, Gmail search, and News search. From anywhere on the Web you can type in a search query and hit the appropriate button, for which Google site you want to seach on (ie- Images or News), and the search results will appear. Pretty neat, huh? Some of the other features of the Google Toolbar is a pop-up blocker. This is a very welcomed edition to Internet Explorer because unlike Firefox, it doesn't have one built-in. You also have the ability to turn on and off the pop-up blocker with one click too. Next to that is the PageRank monitor. This is useful for Webmasters to see their page's ranking on the Web. For site visitors, this is great to see how useful the page is in terms of content and site linkage around the Web. In other words, it tells you the overall quality of the site on a scale of 1 to 10. Besides that, there is a Spell Checker and an Automatic Form Filler. With this form filler, the toolbar will automatically input your information, such as name and email address, into any form it finds on any Web pages that you're currently visiting. It's also password-protected too, so someone using your computer cannot see your personal information without your password. Overall, the Google Toolbar is a must have for anyone. Also, the toolbar has been made available for users of Mozilla's Firefox Web browser. Best of all, the toolbar is free to download (see the download link above to get it). |
